Wallpaper Paste & Supplies Calculator

Enter your roll count and paper type to size the paste — pre-pasted, paste-the-wall, and traditional paste differ.

How the paste calculator works

Paste per roll

Traditional paste-the-paper wallpaper consumes roughly one 500 g paste pack per 5–6 single rolls (a 10 kg tub covers ~55 rolls). Non-woven "paste-the-wall" papers use less (paste only the wall strip) but demand a smoother, faster workflow — the paste skins in minutes. Heavy vinyls and grasscloth want heavy-duty or clay-based adhesive at ~40% more per roll.

The supplies list

  • Paste table (or plastic sheet) — 6 ft of folding table beats the floor forever.
  • Smoothing brush + seam roller — the difference between "hung" and "hung well."
  • Sharp snap-knife blades — change every two rolls; dull blades tear vinyl.
  • Plumb bob or laser level — the first drop decides whether all of them are straight.

Pre-pasted paper

Pre-pasted rolls carry dried adhesive: soak in the water tray per the label (usually 30–60 seconds), book the drop (fold paste-to-paste for 3–5 minutes), and hang. It is the friendliest DIY format — but in dry climates, add paste activator to the water or seams can lift within months.
